APCO International turned to Bigger Better Marketing International to create a new brand identity for the organization that would differentiate it from the heavy-handed look of competing public safety organizations and appeal to the substantial female constituency of 9-1-1 operators. The society's new look, which was debuted in the Member Information Booklet and is now being incorporated into collateral, posters, and exhibits, improved member prospect relevance and achieved a savings of 86% per piece (reduced costs by more than $6 per piece — $60,000 per year).

Our coaching client asked us to assess the IAAO member value proposition (MVP). We found IAAO provided a rich resource that was not well articulated in collateral. Rather than simply provide a report, we drafted the MVP as content for a new brochure. We also supercharged their image from a drab globe graphic to a high-energy, sophisticated professional logo. IAAO incorporated our suggested content and versions of our design into their recruitment materials and reported a 30% growth in membership that year.

American Chemical Society — Fundraising Renewal

We coached our client to depart from their standard single donor renewal letter and embrace multiple mailings per year, and created a distinctive logo for this initiative, which resulted in:

  • A 120% lift over the previous year's donation total from this group
  • Half of the donors increased donations by 100% or more
  • One-fifth of the donors increased their donations by over 230% - specifically, donors at the level upgraded to

We also developed a 2-way mailer with similar messaging for distribution at meetings, and individual buck-slips for each of the funded programs to be used as renewal package inserts. We produced the entire series cost-effectively through simultaneous design work and gang printing, reducing overall expenses.
